1. Margate

Margate is best photographed at sunset when the street lights come on and the sun is setting over the sea. The magical blue hour light makes for fun and romantic images, plus there are arcades, amusement parks and lidos to include in your photographs. A great winter shoot.

Weather: Great in all weather, rain or shine

Best time to photograph: Golden hour or nighttime

Public transport: Margate train station is located a 5-minute walk from the beach

Parking: Belgrave Rd, Margate CT9 1XG

2. Wye Downs

One of my favourite sunsets in Kent. Wye Downs encompasses wide countryside views and long grass meadows with wildflowers in the summer. If you're looking for a quiet escape you will rarely find people here during a weekday evening.

Weather: Great in sunshine

Best time to photograph: Golden hour

Public transport: Wye train station located a 1 mile walk away (very hilly though!)

Parking: Coldharbour Ln, Wye, Ashford TN25

3. Sissinghurst Castle Gardens

If you're a National Trust fan you'll love it here. While the gardens are gorgeous, it's the wider estate that's my favourite for photography, with woodland, ponds and meadows for picnicking.

Weather: Great in sunshine and overcast

Best time to photograph: Afternoon

Public transport: Only accessible by car

Parking: Sissinghurst Rd, Ashford TN27 8HE. Parking is £4 if you're not a member. Access to the main garden is £17. Wider estate is free

4. South Foreland Lighthouse

One of my favourite places to photograph, especially in June when the daisies are in full swing! This cliff-top spot is perfect for wistful pictures with the family or adventurous couples. This location can also be combined with Dover Cliffs for an epic photo series.

Weather: Great in sunshine, overcast and rain

Best time to photograph: Afternoon or golden hour

Public transport: Only accessible by car

Parking: St Margarets Bay, Dover CT15 6HP

5. Kings Wood

Kings Wood near Ashford is in the heart of the Kent countryside with plenty of secret paths, gravel bridleways and a meadow. The best time to visit is April and May when the bluebells cover the floor in purple!

Weather: Great in sunshine, overcast

Best time to photograph: Afternoon

Public transport: Only accessible by car

Parking: Challock, Ashford TN25 4AR

6. Camber Sands

Okay not technically Kent, but it's very close! A beautiful beach with sand and sea for miles. Taking pictures between the dunes and then paddling in the sea is one of my favourite things to do.

Weather: Great in sunshine, overcast

Best time to photograph: Golden hour

Public transport: Only accessible by car or bus

Parking: New Lydd Rd, Camber, Rye TN31 7RB

7. Dungeness

Absorb the strange landscape and explore the abandoned shacks, fishermen's cottages and lighthouses at Dungeness Beach. I love this option for purely atmospheric images and when you're looking for something a bit different!

Weather: Best in sunshine, mist, rain

Best time to photograph: Golden hour and blue hour

Public transport: Best accessed by car. Bus station 1 mile walk away.

Parking: Dungeness Rd, Romney Marsh TN29 9ND

8. Reculver

Reculver is best for cliffs, historic structures and great sunsets. I love shooting here because it's almost always empty on a weekday evening and I love the way the evening sun reflects off the towers!

Weather: Best in sunshine

Best time to photograph: Golden hour

Public transport: Best accessed by car

Parking: Herne Bay CT6 6SU

9. Deal

Easily accessible seaside town with cute beachfront townhouses and a pier to capture romantic photographs of you running or strolling down it. A great place to take after-sunset photos for that real cinematic feel.

Public transport: Deal train station is a 7-minute walk from the beach

Parking: 79 Beach St, Deal CT14 6JA

Knole Park has woodland, parkland, woods and ponds to suit all nature lovers. I recommend this park for country lovers that is more easily accessible than others!
